Now in its 41st season, Oak Park Festival Theatre is the Midwest’s oldest professional outdoor classical theatre. Oak Park Festival Theatre is a professional theater company working under contract with Actors’ Equity Association, producing summer productions of Shakespeare and other theatrical masterpieces that are staged under the stars in lovely Austin Gardens in the heart of down town Oak Park.

OPRF Chamber of Commerce celebrates their volunteers by attending a performance of TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA!

OPRF Chamber hosts Volunteer Recognition event The Oak Park-River Forest Chamber of Commerce acknowledged their volunteers by hosting a Chamber Night Out at Oak Park Festival Theatre on Thursday, August 6, 2015. Special guests were honored with a Chamber pin, reserved only for Board Members and recognized volunteers. Marion Street Market provided appetizers for the Cocktail Hour at 19th Century Club and had their Catering and Event staff there to talk with guests. Pineapple Dance Studio donated cool water bottles for the guests, Twomaytoz (Cucina Paradiso) catered a picnic meal that guests ate in Austin Gardens while watching Shakespeare’s “Two Gentlemen of Verona.” During intermission, Chamber members and volunteers had Oak Park Blend Tea, Green Tea Cookies and Ginger Lemon Scones that were donated by Serenitea. THE VIOLA PROJECT in OP on stage tonight!

6:30pm before the OPFT production of Two Gentlemen of Verona Working in conjunction with OPFT, this summer the Viola Project expanded its programing to the Oak Park Community! Now, for the first time, VP has held TWO simultaneous week long summer camps, one in Chicago and the other in Oak Park. Working with a common curriculum concentrating on Two Gentlemen of Verona, the two camps explored the text and the issues it brings up. They have had an exciting week with guest speakers from IMPACT CHICAGO, where they learned to speak up for themselves, a First Folio workshop hosted by OPFT Artistic Associate Belinda Bremner, and a hand to hand Stage Combat workshop taught by Chloe Baldwin from R&D Choreography! Today both camps have come together and are spending the day on the OPFT stage of Two Gentlemen of Verona, sharing their experiences from the week, getting to know one another, and preparing their scenes for a final performance on stage tonight at 6:30pm before the OPFT Two Gentlemen of Verona production.
