THE VIOLA PROJECT AND OAK PARK FESTIVAL THEATRE PARTNERSHIP

Oak Park Festival Theatre is thrilled to be partnering with The Viola Project again this summer in the efforts to bring not one, not two, but THREE truly amazing weeks of programing and education to the Oak Park community.

A long time fan of Oak Park Festival’s family friendly Shakespeare productions, The Viola Project is a Chicago based organization that uses the works of William Shakespeare to unite and empower girls so they may grow up to be whoever they want to be…even Hamlet.  As seeing live performance is an integral part of any acting camp, The Viola Project is very excited that campers from both Chicago and Oak Park will get a unique opportunity to experience MACBETH & THE FAIR MAID OF THE WEST as both actors, audience members and creative team.

The Viola Project welcomes all youth ages 10-16 who culturally identify as girls and women.  Our students are welcomed regardless of their race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation or ability.

We do not turn away youth who require financial assistance!  Please email SCHOLARSHIP to violainfo@violaproject.org to get your application started or click here to fill out a scholarship application!

MacBeth: The Lady, the Lord and the Plot

July 10-14
WEEK 1 of Oak Park Macbeth Extravaganza

SIGN UP FOR CAMP TODAY!

Nothing says summer fun like the Scottish play!  To kick off our third summer collaborating with Oak Park Festival Theatre, we’re bringing you 2 weeks of interlocking MacBeth camps!  Sign up for one or sign up for two. Both weeks will have entirely different focuses and different scenes.  You do not need to take the first week to take the second!

All hail MacBeth, who shall be king hereafter …
MacBeth is a decorated war hero who craves more power.  If only Scotland didn’t already have a King with sons in line for the throne!  Enter Lady MacBeth, who’s got the words and the ambition to make herself Queen through whatever means necessary.  Even murder… For our first camp, we’ll focus in on the scheming duo who will stop at nothing to get what they want. What could possibly go wrong?

This camp is recommended for ages 10-14

MacBeth: Ghosts, Witches and Things that go Bump in the Night

July 17-21
WEEK 2 of Oak Park Macbeth Extravaganza

Double, double, toil and trouble…

MacBeth has everything in terms of spook appeal.  Witches?  Check.  Ghosts? Check.  Mysteriously appearing blood stains?  Check.  The play is even rumored to be cursed!  So for our second week of MacBeth we’ll take a look at the super natural forces that rule the play.  MacBeth is tale of prophecies, spells and nightmares where the dead just won’t stay dead.   Are you ready to screw your courage to the sticking place?  We are!

This camp is recommended for ages 10-14
