Kevin Theis has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Oak Park Festival Theatre since 2005. His history with the theatre goes back to 1990, when he first appeared as a performer in Falstaff. In subsequent years, Kevin performed in A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Tempest, returning in 2006 to direct William Inge's Picnic. Since then, Kevin has directed three more productions for OPFT, including the touring Shakespeare show, Robin Hood, and last season's Cyrano de Bergerac, and played Benedick in the 2008 production of Much Ado About Nothing. The former Artistic Director of CT20 Ensemble, Kevin has staged works at various Chicago theatres, including Lifeline, City Lit, greasy joan & company, Buffalo Theatre Ensemble and Seanachai Theatre, where he is an ensemble member. He has appeared as a performer at, among others, Goodman Theatre, Next, Lifeline, Bailiwick and Noble Fool. Kevin has two published works, an adaptation of Thomas Heywood's Fair Maid of the West and another of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Sign of the Four, the latter in conjunction with Shanghai Low Theatricals, where he is a founding member. He is married to actress Sara Nichols and has two daughters, Miranda and Gwendolyn, on whom he dotes.
